Everyone's building with AI. Almost nobody knows if it's built right.

I'm Deepak Malhan. I built an 80-person engineering firm and shipped 500+ web, mobile and AI products for Fortune 500 companies. Now I'm the independent expert founders and teams call before a bad build costs them — audits, security, architecture, cost reviews, and hands-on guidance.

The problem

Building software has never been easier. Knowing if it's good has never been harder.

AI and cheap outsourcing put a working demo within anyone's reach. What they don't give you is the judgement to know whether what you have is solid — or a liability waiting to surface.

You built it with AI

It demos beautifully. But is it secure? Tested? Built to scale? AI tools will confidently ship code that looks right and quietly isn't.

You outsourced it

An agency or freelancer delivered — but is the code actually good, and was the price fair? Most clients have no honest way to tell.

You're betting big

A rewrite, a migration, a six-figure build. Your vendor is conflicted and your team is too close. Who is your unbiased second opinion?

That's where I come in — an independent, expert second opinion with nothing to sell you but the truth.

Why me

Most reviewers have only seen one side. I've lived all of them.

I've priced and delivered software for Fortune 500 clients, and I've rebuilt an entire org around AI. That's a rare vantage point — and it's exactly what you need in a second opinion.

I have sat on both sides

14 years running an agency that scoped, priced and delivered software for Fortune 500 clients. I know where the bodies are buried in a proposal and a codebase.

I actually understand AI-built code

I moved an 80-person org to AI-native, agentic delivery and built a multi-agent governance system. I know how AI code fails, not just that it does.

I am independent

No product to upsell, no vendor to protect, no dev shop waiting to quote the rebuild. My only incentive is to tell you the truth.

I speak both languages

Deeply technical, but I translate it into business terms a founder or investor can act on. No jargon, no hiding behind complexity.

Selected work

The track record behind the judgement.

Regulated fintech, connected cars, award-winning consumer apps, platforms at scale, and production agentic-AI systems.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What exactly do you do?

I am an independent technical consultant. Founders and teams bring me in for an unbiased expert opinion on their software — auditing AI-generated and outsourced code, reviewing security, sanity-checking architecture decisions, judging whether a vendor's price and scope are fair, and giving hands-on guidance on web and mobile builds. I have no product to sell you and no stake in your vendor, so you get the truth.

Why is an independent second opinion worth it?

Your vendor is conflicted, your team is close to it, and AI tools will confidently ship code that looks fine and is not. A few hours of independent review before a big decision routinely saves months of rework and a lot of money. I have sat on the delivery side for 14 years and led an entire org's move to AI-native development, so I can judge both traditional outsourced work and AI-built code.

Can you really audit AI-generated or "vibe-coded" software?

Yes — this is core to what I do. I led the transition of an 80-person engineering firm to AI-native, agentic delivery and built COMPLY, a multi-agent AI governance system. I know exactly how AI-built code fails: missing tests, invented logic, silent security holes, and architecture that cannot scale. I will tell you plainly whether yours is solid, salvageable, or a rebuild.

Do you only do audits, or can you help build too?

Both. Consulting spans the full lifecycle — from scoping the right MVP and choosing a stack, to reviewing work in-flight, to acting as a fractional CTO. Audits are often how engagements start; many turn into ongoing advisory. It is web, mobile and AI, across every area.

How much does it cost?

Much of it is fixed-price and small. An AI code or security audit is $500 with a report in 24 hours; an AI infrastructure audit is $200; a one-hour strategy call is $200. Manual reviews and larger engagements are scoped to your project and lines of code. See the full menu on the Pricing page — or book a free call and I will point you to the smallest piece of work that solves your problem.

How do we start?

Book a free intro call. We will talk through your situation, I will tell you whether and how I can help, and if it is a fit I will scope the engagement. If it is not a fit, I will say so and point you in a better direction.

Who do you work with?

Non-technical founders, funded startups, SMBs digitising for the first time, and investors doing technical due diligence. I have delivered for Fortune 500 companies including Allianz, Danone, DENSO, Google and TX Group, and I bring that same standard to a two-person startup.

Are our code and details kept confidential?

Always. Everything you share is treated as confidential, and I am happy to sign an NDA before we get into specifics. Trust is the entire point of an independent review.
